At GE Appliances, I worked as a UI/UX Intern in the IDO department, contributing to a range of exciting projects in the IoT and LCD design space. As part of a collaborative and innovative team, my primary focus was on enhancing the user experience across various connected products.
In a fast-paced environment, I tackled diverse challenges such as refining dashboard interfaces, creating scalable design systems, and integrating sustainable design principles. These experiences allowed me to design brand-centric solutions while aligning with business strategies and market needs.

Brand Icon Libraries
Project Overview
Creating Custom Icon Sets for Distinct Brand Identities
Developed three custom icon sets for Café, Monogram, and GE Profile, each reflecting their distinct brand identity. Focused on creating icons that align with each brand’s visual tone, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach. Delivered a cohesive design system that enhances brand recognition and elevates user experience.

Streamlining the Roux Typography System
Redesigned the Roux typography system by reducing 54+ text styles into a more streamlined and effective structure. Focused on improving consistency, readability, and usability for designers while maintaining flexibility for various contexts. Delivered a simpler, more cohesive typography system that aligns with the brand’s goals.

Designing Seamless Ad Placements for SmartHQ App
Designed ad placements within the SmartHQ app to promote frozen food products without disrupting the user experience. Focused on creating non-intrusive ads that blend into the app’s functionality while maintaining user satisfaction. Prioritized preserving core workflows and ensuring ads feel purposeful and seamless.

Designing Roux’s Cooktop Dashboard Experience
Led the design of Roux’s cooktop dashboard, collaborating with engineers and PMs to address edge cases and multiple use scenarios. Conducted benchmarking, competitive analysis, and prototyping to refine the user experience. Delivered a functional, user-friendly dashboard design seamlessly integrated into the Roux ecosystem.

Ownership and Leadership in Projects
During my internship, I took the lead on several projects, driving design outcomes from concept to delivery. Whether it was exploring design solutions for smart home devices, enhancing connected experiences, or refining the design system, I actively collaborated with PMs and engineers to ensure that every outcome was impactful.

I formally presented my work over 18 times during the internship, sharing insights and progress on various projects. These presentations not only helped me refine my storytelling skills but also emphasized the importance of clear, strategic communication to align stakeholders.
