Overview
Shaping the Digital Future at Fisker
At Fisker Inc., I worked as an Associate Product Designer on the Digital Product Experience team, where I contributed to a variety of impactful projects. As part of a small, agile team, my main focus was improving the digital experience for Fisker drivers across web and mobile platforms. In a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment, I tackled diverse projects like the delivery flow, financial flow, and connected car experience, striving to create seamless, user-friendly interfaces that reflect Fisker’s commitment to innovation.
These projects each had unique challenges and opportunities, which I’d be excited to discuss further during our conversation!
Project 1
Fisker Task Tile: Simplifying Order Tracking
Project Overview
Fisker Task Tile: Simplifying Order Tracking
Redesigned the car delivery tracking experience through a scalable and user-friendly Task Tile component. Focused on delivering clear order statuses, guiding users through next steps, and addressing edge cases with a visually intuitive design. The solution was successfully integrated into Fisker’s broader design system, ensuring reusability and efficiency for future projects.
Project 2
Creating Fisker’s Unified Icon System
Project Overview
Creating Fisker’s Unified Icon System
Led the creation of a unified and scalable icon library for Fisker, bringing consistency to web, app, and in-vehicle interfaces. Improved brand alignment and user recognition while streamlining workflows with detailed design guidelines and scalable assets, ensuring easy expansion for future needs.
Project 3
Design Library 2.0
Project 3
Building a Unified and Scalable Design System
Contributed to the development of a scalable design system using Figma’s advanced variable and mode features. Collaborated to unify desktop and mobile design systems into a cohesive framework, reducing maintenance efforts and improving consistency across platforms. Supported the initiative by streamlining workflows, minimizing redundancy, and creating clear documentation to enhance collaboration between designers and developers.
Project 4
Connected App Experience
Project 4
Seamless Vehicle Interaction
Collaborated with designers and embedded engineering, app, and backend teams to design and implement connected car features for the Fisker App. Worked alongside the design team to create a user-friendly interface that effectively communicates the state of the vehicle while enabling users to perform remote actions, such as locking doors or adjusting settings, via their mobile devices. Partnered closely with engineering teams to ensure the UX design accounted for all edge cases, resulting in a robust and intuitive system that enhances the connected car experience.
Takeaways
01
Embracing Structure in a Rapidly Evolving Environment
Working in a fast-paced environment taught me the importance of establishing standard design processes. As the company rapidly scaled, I learned to regulate workflows and implement structured practices, ensuring consistency and quality across projects, even when deadlines were tight. This approach helped the team meet business goals without compromising on user experience.
02
Designing for Scalability Across Breakpoints
Collaborating on web and app interfaces gave me deeper insights into responsive design. I learned to carefully consider breakpoints and create flexible layouts that adapt seamlessly across devices, ensuring a consistent user experience no matter the platform.
03
Navigating Complexity Through Collaboration
Designing connected car features required me to work closely with cross-functional teams to navigate intricate systems and edge cases. This taught me the value of effective communication, stakeholder alignment, and collaboration in delivering complex yet user-friendly solutions.
